Catchin' little piece of time

Thank goodness for trash cans. I don’t mean this in the way that you think. I mean yes, they keep the pathways of the parks clean when used properly, and yes, I do love to take pictures of them as much as the next guy or girl (of which my collection is growing all the time), but I really love them for the functionality I have found in them.

You see, I have recently taken to carrying a small tripod with me on my trips, it is only about six to ten inches tall. I decided that the full size one was just a little too burdensome when I was moving through the parks at a good clip instead of setting up somewhere for any period of time. Needless to say, what it makes up for in space, it lacks in versatility. But this is never even a thought while in the parks, for the simple reason that no matter where you are, there is almost always a refuge can right where you need one to set of a stellar shot.

I never realized just how much of a blessing this was until, while on my honeymoon in Sonoma last week, I tried to set up a nice shot of a vineyard and my wife with no trash receptacle in sight. It came out fine, but it took several takes before I got what I was truly after. So thank you from all of the amateur photographers of the world Walt Disney World, Disneyland, and all the trash cans in between. You make us look good!
