It went by a couple of names,
starting out with Colors of the Wind – Friends From the Animal Forest, but was
best known as Pocahontas and Her Forest Friends. It resided in a corner of Camp
Minnie-Mickey just down the path from Festival of the Lion King and the
character camp trails and gave families a glimpse into the lives, habits, and
skills of forest critters. The show ran for just over a decade from 1998 until September
of 2008.
Since the show closed the theater
has been used for dance parties, meet and greets, and stroller parking. With
Festival of the Lion King and the camp trails moving out of the land, it is
only a matter of time before this theater disappears. Keeping that thought in
mind, I thought we’d look over the stage, amazing backdrops, and some of the
great details that made Grandmother Willow’s Theater such an intricate part of
the Disney’s Animal Kingdom experience for the park’s first ten years.
